Version 1.2.0 — October 29, 2026
The AI assistant: ask, review, publish. Full overview in the launch post.
New features
- AI assistant with Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI), through direct HTTPS calls with streamed responses, using your own API key.
- Drafts and suggestions: the assistant creates drafts, suggests changes to published content and presents each action as a card (preview, apply, cancel, publish in one click).
- Generated images with GPT Image 2.5, FLUX 3 or Ideogram 3, optimized as WebP and stored in the media library.
- Editorial profile drafted in one click from your site, so the assistant writes in your voice.
- Touch-ups in the editor: improve, fix mistakes, shorten, expand, simplify, translate, write the FAQ or the alt texts.
- New Team block: portraits, roles, bios and profile links.
- Safeguards: monthly budget ($10 by default), daily quota (60 requests per person), encrypted keys excluded from backups.
Ctrl+Jshortcut.
Security
- Security review of the assistant: budget rechecked before each step, at most two requests at a time per person, automatic stop after 7 minutes.
- “Cancel” is refused if someone has edited the content in the meantime; canceling never changes the publication status.
- Replacements limited to visible text: link URLs and the surrounding formatting are preserved.
- FLUX key sent only to Black Forest Labs; images downloaded over HTTPS from a verified public IP address; suggestions expire after 14 days.
- Site content read by the AI is treated as data, never as instructions.
Improvements
- Assistant translated into 6 languages (203 new strings); language files shipped as compressed JSON, so Éclair stays under 1 MB.
- The setup wizard also checks for zlib, cURL and encryption.
- Interface fixes verified in the browser (the editor’s ✨ menu, the Team block, the “Write” button for Key takeaways).
- 299 automated checks; 402 KB archive.
Version 1.1.0 — October 29, 2026
The admin speaks 7 languages.
New features
- Admin in German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil) and Chinese, in addition to French, English and Spanish: 817 strings per language, with variables, tags and punctuation checked.
- Chinese date format and file size units adapted to each language.
Improvements
- Human-readable translation sources in the
i18n/folder, compiled into compact files bytools/i18n.php. - Tests: every language must be complete, with variables and tags preserved.
- README and guide translated into English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil) and Chinese, with screenshots in each language.
- 315 KB archive; 199 automated checks.
Version 1.0.0 — October 29, 2026
Éclair’s first public release.
New features
- CMS with no database: content stored in protected files, written atomically.

- 4-step setup wizard and starter content in French, Spanish and English.
- Scheduling in the site’s time zone and password reset via FTP (
data/reset.php). - Admin in French, English and Spanish; compatible with PHP 8.1 to 8.5.
Security
- Argon2id, TOTP two-factor authentication with recovery codes, brute-force protection, CSRF tokens, strict Content-Security-Policy, hardened sessions, integrity check.
- Offensive security review before release: accounts updated atomically, 2-hour installation window, site address verified by the server itself, atomic login limiter (per network and per account), password re-prompt for sensitive actions, bounded logs, checked media and private files set to 0600.
Project
- MIT license and credit for the Lucide icons (ISC license).
- Public repository on GitHub, unit tests and HTTP integration tests, archive build tool with integrity fingerprints.
Questions about Éclair versions
How do I update Éclair to the latest version?
Download a backup, replace the app and assets folders, along with index.php and .htaccess, with the ones from the new version, then clear the cache in Settings › Advanced. Your content (data) and images (media) are never touched. It’s all explained in the documentation.
How can I tell which version of Éclair is installed?
Open the index.php file at the root of your site: the line define('ECLAIR_VERSION', '1.2.0'); shows the installed version. Then compare it with this changelog.
Can an update break my site?
An update doesn’t modify your content, settings or images. Only a custom theme in app/theme needs to be put back afterward, so keep a copy of it.
Where can I report a bug or suggest a feature?
On Éclair’s GitHub repository, or through the contact page.
